Chronicles of Bad Stories Foretold

The overhang of the still cumulonimbus clouds was not the most desirable back drop for a round of skeet shooting. There was a real possibility of the clay pigeons getting lost in the shadowy visage. So Venky was a bit baffled that his two friends – former national Skeet champions – Vilins and Kok Jeen had selected such a murky day for shooting clay pigeons.

As they took their respective positions on the gravel surrounded by a sparse outgrowth of shrubs, Vilins at the far left subtly gestured to Kok Jeen who was at the extreme right.

“Venky why don’t you go first?” offered Kok Jeen.

“Sure”. Venky took up position.

But no clay pigeon was released in the air. Instead Venky was thrown back violently courtesy a fusillade of bullets fired at him by two of his friends.

“This, is for all the bad story about us” yelled Vilins.

As Venky’s life blood literally drained out of him, his last thought was, “Vilins made a grammatical error. It should have been ‘stories’ and not ‘story.’
