Delight or Despair?

The horizon was bathed in an angry Orange as the setting sun splayed its remnants in what was the Star’s last resplendent flourish for the day. Since the high tide was some time coming, the sea seemed to have stilled itself in a show of benevolence and benediction to the God of light. However, both the spectacle above the earth and the serenity on it were lost on Venky as he sat on a path of overgrown grass abutting the expanse of water.

Vacantly staring at nothing, he seemed to radiate neither purpose nor passion. The Sun of his life had set long before the stars had stopped shining too.

It was exactly a day to the year that the Regal Dreamliner Jet majestically flew beyond the horizon carrying within its confines, his beloved Ash.  Ash – the primary reason for his living.

Ash – once his delight, now his despair.

Aw, you’ve captured his sadness to such a degree I feel it with him. I search my memories for who I have lost on a plane like that. Yet I have not. My heart goes out to your protagonist. That’s what I call skilful writing.

Thank you so much for your inimitable words of encouragement – as always! This one though did not elicit a major expending of effort. Experience at times may be enervating!
