Frankenstein’s Pod

The observatory deck stood as the sole remaining relic. A remainder to man’s misplaced confidence in his own power, potential and predictability. A mere two decades ago, in a monumental testimony to the pinnacle which Artificial Intelligence had scaled, life size humanoid robots known as HRP 4 & Valkyries were beaming continuous signals on preprogrammed frequencies to hasten the Search for Extraterrestrial Life.

Then the programmers became the programmed, the controllers morphed into the controlled as the Creators, much to their horror and chagrin were relegated to the status of the enslaved. The proponents of Singularity and Machine Learning had unwittingly birthed an entire generation of Frankensteins’.

First to fall were the Corporations, the very beacons of Research into the unknown. Soon cities followed suit. The ultimate consequence was the collapse of nations. The “Robotic Reign & Reclamation of Planet Earth (3RPE)” was now complete. Both man’s ego and complacency were obliterated with a surgical precision the likes of which were never seen before, and in all probabilities, never will be seen again.

As the final prison pod was hermetically sealed, HRP Kawada proclaimed, “Some of the greatest destructive elements find their voices in the most advanced creations.”

I almost expected this, and it came quickly – in the second para. “Then the programmers became the programmed, the controllers morphed into the controlled as the Creators, much to their horror and chagrin were relegated to the status of the enslaved.”

With the way the world is going unheeding the clarion call of discretion, fiction may be morphed into non-fiction faster than we think!
