Harvesting Souls

by Venky

A benevolent disposition that hides a belligerent murderer

A paid assassin sheathed in the skein of a pious mendicant

The peddler of morals cocks the wrist that plunges a dagger into the heart

Fond reminiscences are but mere preparatory blocks for revenge

Deceptive doves in white, remorseless ravens in disguise

The founts of pure gurgling water receptacles for poisoned chalices

Father against daughter, mother against son, brother against sister

Vengeance thy name!
