Liz could not recall looking up at a clearer canopy of blue sky. Stretching as far as the eye could see, the sea of blue had her transfixed. A blob of milky white cloud right in the middle of her vision seemed like a trespasser who was suddenly rendered shock still by the beauty surrounding him. For some inexplicable reason the bloated cloud reminded her of a teddy bear which was the recent acquisition and obsession of her son, Adithya.
Remembering her tiny tot always brought a radiant smile to her face. Irrespective of her state of mind, he was her one constant spark of brightness and one inexhaustible source of joy and courage. Courage, a commodity which she needed in abundance and with urgency.
When she handed over her letter of resignation bidding goodbye abruptly to what otherwise was a promising career, her boss asked her in a sniggering vein, “all this for what?”
