The Intact & The Broken

The obsession towards growth was not restricted to just throwing money at real estate. While gargantuan structures enthusiastically competed with each other in reaching out to the stars, a multitude of squat, drab and horizontal complexes layered with state-of-the-art security were built in double quick time.

A panoply of skyscrapers was complemented by a plethora of prisons. But was there a difference between either the edifices or the inhabitants? While bankers donning boiler plate suits ensconced themselves behind cramped cubby holes furiously hammering away on keypads inside towering domes of concrete and steel, an incarcerated humanity clad in prescription uniforms toiled away in contrasting settings of dark cellars and bright gardens.

While the insatiable greed of the bankers resulted in a pillaging of the economy and a plundering of tax payer savings, the drudgery of the men in Orange was self-sustaining.

So who then were the inmates running the asylum?
